Wool is naturally antistatic, meaning it attracts and retains very little dust. It is a self-cleaning fiber that remains pristine over time with minimal intervention.
Simple aeration or a light breeze is often sufficient to refresh the material.
If necessary, you may use a vacuum cleaner on a low-suction setting.
To revive the brightness of the wool or its colors, a light mist of water mixed with a small amount of white vinegar may be applied. Avoid over-saturating the felt to preserve its structural integrity.
For minor stains, use Marseille soap and rinse carefully. For more stubborn or greasy stains, White of Meudon is recommended.
Despite the meticulous care taken during packaging, should your felt object arrive slightly misshapen or wrinkled, it can easily be restored to its original form.
Apply steam to the area using a steamer or a steam iron held at a distance without touching the surface or dampen it slightly with a water spray. The steam will cause the fibers to regain their volume and erase any creases. If needed, gently reshape the piece by hand.
This ancestral method, traditionally used for felt hats, will allow you to maintain and refresh your lighting fixture over the years.
