Wool Felt
Wool felt is a non-woven textile, arguably the oldest in human history, predating both weaving and knitting.
It begins with carded or combed wool (unspun fiber) to which water, soap... and plenty of elbow grease and patience are added! Wool fibers have microscopic scales that open when exposed to moisture and heat. Through the combined action of water and repetitive movement, these fibers entangle and lock together. As they do, they shrink and densify, forming the felt.
In stark contrast to a world of "more, faster, now," wool felt is the result of a slow, mindful, and deliberate process.
